Problem with amplifier?

depends on how its wired. If its hooked up correctly the amp will come on when the deck does. Your buddies probably turned the bass down or the subwoofer. On my deck their is a subwoofer setting and a bass setting so you can have the bass down on your interiors and the sub cranked up. Check that out.
