What are some good books with kickass female leads?

Rachel Caine's Weather Warden Series is great. I agree about Bella. I just want to throttle the girl. Why are you letting them go on about keeping you safe like you are some piece or pottery. Give them a slap for heavens sake! I like Rose in Vampire Academy but I think it went a little downhill after book 3.
